Cricket Formats Explained — How to Bet on Each One
Cricket fans in Bangladesh know the different formats of the game well, but the differences in betting markets are unclear to many. Learn about each format before placing your bets at 566bt.
T20
20 overs per team, with matches typically finishing in 3 to 4 hours. The fast pace of batting and bowling creates more variety in the betting markets.
Betting opportunities: match winner, top batter, most wickets, runs per over, live in-play.
Leagues: BPL, IPL, T20 World Cup, BBL, PSL.
ODI (One-Day)
50 overs per team, with matches typically lasting 7 to 8 hours. There are more betting opportunities in strategic batting and mid-innings momentum.
Betting opportunities: toss, first wicket to fall, powerplay score, ICC ranking matches.
Example: Bangladesh vs India ODI — bet on either team in the match winner market.
Test
A 5-day match with 2 innings per team. Session bets, innings totals, and series results offer opportunities for patient bettors.
Betting opportunities: draw/winner, session score, top wicket-taker, series result.
The Hundred
100 balls per team — a newer British cricket format. The extremely fast pace offers plenty of live betting opportunities.
Betting opportunities: five-ball block score, player of the match, match winner.
How to Read Odds — Decimal to American
Understanding odds is the foundation of good betting decisions. 566bt uses decimal format, which is the most familiar to bettors in Bangladesh.
Decimal Odds
৳500 × 1.80 = ৳900 return (৳400 profit)
Fractional Odds
Equivalent to decimal 1.80 — ৳400 profit for every ৳500 staked.
American Odds
Negative means favourite — you need to bet ৳125 to win ৳100.
Implied Probability:
Decimal 1.80 means 1 ÷ 1.80 ≈ 55.6% probability. If you think the true probability is higher than that, it is a good betting opportunity. Lower odds mean higher probability but less profit — higher odds carry more risk but offer more reward.
